The Quality Technician plays a critical role in inspecting, testing, and ensuring the quality of structural and architectural precast concrete products during various production phases. This position guarantees that all items adhere to PCI, company, and project standards before they are shipped. The technician collaborates closely with production and quality assurance teams to detect issues, keep detailed records, and foster ongoing improvements within a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Key Duties

• Execute pre-pour, post-pour, and final inspections of precast concrete products
• Report any non-conforming materials, equipment, or test outcomes to quality control leadership
• Confirm products comply with PCI, company, and project specifications before shipment
• Maintain precise quality control documents in accordance with standards
• Interpret blueprints, production drawings, and project specs accurately
• Utilize testing instruments such as slump cones, air meters, scales, ovens, and sieves
• Carry out accurate measurements using tape measures and precision tools
• Perform basic material tests and analyses to support quality assurance
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace adhering to all safety protocols
• Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality control teams to address quality concerns

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Preferred certifications: ACI or PCI
• Experience in manufacturing, concrete, construction, or precast is advantageous
• Competency in reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality standards
• Proficiency with basic mathematics and computer use, including Microsoft Office
• Skillful use of measurement and testing equipment
• Excellent communication and the ability to collaborate within teams
• Capacity to operate effectively in a fast-moving production environment
• Solid knowledge of safety protocols and procedures

Physical and Working Conditions

• Ability to perform physically demanding activities, including occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm motions
• Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the work facility during shifts of up to 12 hours
• Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts regularly
• Able to safely work in production or field environments with moderate to high exposure to risks
• Willingness to work in diverse environmental conditions such as wet, hot, humid, cold, and outdoor settings depending on location
• Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements, including safety boots, glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vests, hard hats, and any task- or area-specific PPE
