Role Overview
The Quality Inspector position is vital for ensuring that equipment complies with company standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. This role involves close collaboration with workshop, production, and engineering departments to maintain quality and compliance throughout the production process.
Key Duties
- Follow and implement the established quality strategy effectively.
- Understand potential risks and apply appropriate mitigation techniques.
- Create and manage necessary documentation including NOI, PMI Packs, and Welding Packs.
- Review and verify material certifications and test records.
- Perform comprehensive visual and dimensional inspections of equipment.
- Conduct quality inspections both in-house and at supplier locations, involving physical checks, document verification, expedited reviews, and product releases.
- Carry out ongoing inspections including flushing, pressure testing, and final evaluations.
- Liaise daily with Third Party Inspection Agencies and Client Inspectors.
- Participate actively in internal and external training programs.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of product's key components and attributes.
- Report on site-specific targets and objectives, interpreting data to support continuous improvements.
- Drive local improvement initiatives aligned with business goals to achieve measurable outcomes.
- Proactively manage non-conformance reports by ensuring thorough root cause analyses and implementing corrective measures to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain and enforce the effectiveness and compliance of the GBMS (Global Business Management System).
- Stay informed and compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards plus additional applicable regulations for business operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline (mandatory).
- Preferable qualifications include formal training in inspection specialties, technical certifications, internal or lead auditor accreditation, NDT Level II certification (RT, PT, MT, UT, VT), CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI certification, and NACE Level-2 or BGAS Grade-2 qualifications.
Experience:
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensional reports.
- Prior experience in a similar quality inspection role is essential.
- Strong proficiency with IT tools is required.
