Job description

Job Purpose

The role involves conducting in-process and line inspections of machining and casting parts, ensuring compliance with quality benchmarks, engineering drawings, and control plans to minimize defects and rejections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections on machining and casting components according to drawings and approved control plans.
  • Evaluate critical dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, and detect casting flaws such as porosity, cracks, and blow holes.
  • Utilize precision tools like Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and dial indicators for measurements.
  • Interpret engineering designs including GD&T standards.
  • Perform initial sample inspections (FAI) and verify line clearance before production begins.
  • Oversee process quality monitoring to reduce waste, rejection, and the need for rework.
  • Detect and document non-conformities, assisting with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, reports, and traceability data for audits.
  • Collaborate with machining and casting teams to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with quality protocols, workplace safety, and 5S housekeeping practices.
  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvements and initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor's or Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in quality control within manufacturing or engineering sectors.

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Deep understanding of machining techniques including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding.
  • Knowledge of casting procedures and proficiency in identifying common casting defects.
  • Practical experience inspecting machined and cast parts.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with ISO quality management systems and documentation requirements.
  • Awareness of quality tools such as the seven QC tools and methods for root cause analysis.
  • Basic computer literacy for preparing reports and maintaining documentation.
  • Capability to work in rotational shifts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and diligent follow-up skills.
  • Strong communication skills with good coordination within teams.

Working Conditions

This position is full-time with a requirement to work onsite.
