About the Role and Organization
The New York City Police Department is dedicated to improving the quality of life in New York City by working closely with the community to enforce laws, preserve peace, protect its people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The department focuses on crime prevention, quality-of-life improvements, and fostering lasting relationships within the community. The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO) within the department aims to prevent and address employment discrimination and harassment. The OEEO leads initiatives and policies related to accommodations such as pregnancy, lactation, facial hair, religious head coverings, and transgender inclusion, ensuring support for the diverse workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully review and proofread both printed and digital communications to identify and rectify any mistakes in spelling, grammar, punctuation, tone, formatting, and overall presentation.
- Guarantee that all materials meet specific formatting guidelines and adhere to organizational standards.
- Use applications such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word to annotate, track, and document editing changes effectively.
- Work collaboratively with team members to support document review workflows through internal systems and platforms.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proof of graduation from an accredited United States law school must be provided before hiring.
- Graduation from an accredited law school as recognized by the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals or admission to the New York State Bar.
Preferred Skills
- Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation with exceptional writing and proofreading abilities.
- Excellent editing and presentation skills, with high attention to detail.
- Functional proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Adobe software.
