Project Manager - Business Change (Distributed Energy Resources)

Overview

MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting a Project Manager specializing in Business Change to support a major utility provider in British Columbia. This 12-month contract role is based in Vancouver, BC, offering a hybrid work environment and a chance to lead projects related to distributed energy resources, energy management, and customer programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee business process transformation and energy management projects from start to finish, including evaluation and closure phases.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation such as plans, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, communications, and status updates.
• Track project outcomes and key performance indicators to ensure objectives are met.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, customers, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design and enforce project procedures, governance frameworks, and policies.
• Assist in procurement tasks, Privacy Impact Assessments, customer data handling, and project monitoring.
• Plan and implement communication strategies and participant recruitment to meet program goals.
• Identify potential risks, devise mitigation plans, and prepare contingency measures.
• Conduct project evaluations, document lessons learned, and perform post-implementation reviews.
• Deliver excellent customer service while fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or related fields.
• At least five years of project management experience, proficient in handling multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong abilities in project planning, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
• Solid business understanding and knowledge of the energy industry.
• Excellent communication skills across written, oral, presentation, and customer service contexts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Possession of Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification.
• Experience with Distributed Energy Resources such as rooftop solar, self-generation, net metering, battery storage, and grid-tied generation.
• Expertise in marketing, communication planning, new product development, and emerging technologies implementation.
• Familiarity with procurement, Privacy Impact Assessments, customer data requests, and utility operations.
