About the Role
As a Pre K Teacher Assistant at Cadence Education, you will play a crucial role in supporting a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment that meets the diverse developmental, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of young children, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Working under the guidance of the School Director and classroom leadership, you will assist in daily activities and the delivery of Cadence Education's specialized programs while complying with licensing and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a respectful and caring classroom atmosphere where every child is valued with dignity.
- Welcome children and families daily, cultivating warm, professional relationships.
- Recognize and respond thoughtfully to individual differences in development, behavior, culture, and learning, including implementing IEPs and behavioral support plans as directed.
- Assist teachers with curriculum planning and carrying out age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with Cadence's Signature Programs.
- Communicate respectfully with families, colleagues, and leadership using company-approved platforms.
- Adhere strictly to Cadence's Safety and Supervision protocols, documenting and reporting incidents as required.
- Help manage and report challenging child behaviors following established procedures.
- Comply with all workplace policies and participate actively in mandatory meetings, trainings, and professional development, which may occur outside normal working hours.
Qualifications and Skills
- Capability to consistently apply safety measures including face-to-name accountability, allergy precautions, feeding procedures, and safe sleep standards.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented classroom setting.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline preferred, though meeting state licensing requirements is acceptable.
- Compliance with all state licensing criteria for teacher assistants in childcare centers, plus successful background checks and health screenings.
- Previous early childhood or classroom experience is advantageous.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred, not mandatory if state qualifications are fulfilled.
Scheduling and Work Conditions
- Flexibility is required due to variable schedules influenced by enrollment, staffing ratios, and operational demands.
- Shift lengths and daily start/end times may vary and cannot be guaranteed to be consistent or full eight-hour days.
