About the Role
Join Mayflower Software as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, where you will be responsible for managing critical production PostgreSQL databases used by enterprise clients primarily in healthcare and finance sectors. This position involves designing robust high-availability systems, leading disaster recovery initiatives, and fine-tuning database performance to minimize downtime costs. The role offers significant responsibility with a direct impact on business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and take ownership of production PostgreSQL environments ensuring stable and efficient operations.
- Design and implement high-availability configurations to maximize uptime and fault tolerance.
- Lead disaster recovery planning and execution to secure business continuity.
- Optimize database performance through advanced tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in live production settings.
- In-depth knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and crafting effective indexes.
- Expertise with backup processes, replication techniques, and configuring high-availability systems including Patroni, pgBouncer, and streaming replication.
- Experience managing PostgreSQL databases on cloud platforms such as AWS RDS, Aurora, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
- Bonus: Familiarity with Oracle database administration.
- Strong grasp of database security measures, user access controls, and adherence to compliance standards.

- The position is fully remote and full-time.
