Job Overview
Based at Cranleigh Delivery Office (GU6 8AA), this permanent full-time position offers £13.68 per hour paid monthly, with opportunities for paid overtime. The role involves working a 37-hour week distributed over 5 days in a 6-day cycle between Monday and Saturday from 06:00 to 14:30, with a rotating schedule which may include weekends. Additionally, you will be required to work one Sunday in every four at Guilford Delivery Office (GU1 1AA).
Role Responsibilities
- Sort mail and packages at the delivery center.
- Deliver letters and parcels on foot and by Royal Mail van within the local area.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Perform deliveries in all weather conditions.
Your deliveries will include important items such as exam results, birthday cards, business orders, and other meaningful mail. This role requires a commitment to high-quality service even under physical and time pressures.
Work Environment
- Physically demanding days involving walking distances up to 12 miles (over 20,000 steps).
- Daily driving of a Royal Mail van.
- Delivery of a high volume of parcels and letters.
- Operating outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
- Working under time constraints, especially during peak seasons.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a full manual UK driving license registered to current name and address with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Ability to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
- Physical fitness to walk long distances, climb stairs or hills, and carry mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
- Reliability and self-motivation, with strong organizational skills and resilience under a busy schedule.
- Customer service oriented and pride in delivering quality service.
- Comfortable working outdoors alone.
