Plant Manager

Position Overview

The Plant Manager will oversee all aspects of plant operations including production, quality control, customer service, maintenance, receiving, and shipping activities. This role ensures the facility is operated safely, efficiently, and correctly while managing the day-to-day functions and supervising subordinate staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all departments related to production, administration, distribution, and safety at the plant facility.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers to encourage retention and loyalty through excellent service.
• Engage with customers to assess service requirements and implement improvements accordingly.
• Monitor key performance indicators such as sales growth, collections, productivity, inventory control, and profit margins.
• Create accurate budget forecasts and manage operations within the allocated budget.
• Oversee product quality assurance and introduce process enhancements as needed.
• Manage human resources functions including hiring, firing, and reassigning personnel to suitable roles.
• Identify operational deficiencies and devise continuous improvement plans.
• Participate actively in local community involvement activities.
• Develop leadership capabilities among team leads and foremen.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

• Plan, assign, schedule, and review employee work while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Handle hiring, terminating, training, performance reviews, and corrective actions for staff members.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in managerial or supervisory roles related to production, operations, or distribution.
• Preferred: Previous management experience in salvage yards is advantageous.
• Skills: Basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division; ability to interpret graphs and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint including advanced functions to support business needs.
• Strong communication skills to handle complex information transfer, address sensitive issues, and motivate others across departments.
• Analytical thinking to solve varied and complex problems using knowledge and best practices.
• Decision-making skills affecting department or business unit operations, with ability to set goals and make policy recommendations.
• Capability to manage multiple moderately complex projects or tasks simultaneously.

Physical and Work Environment

• Occasional requirements to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for prolonged periods.
• Must be capable of lifting or moving up to 75 pounds regularly, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Work environment may include hazardous conditions and equipment; ability to work in confined spaces or under vehicles requiring awkward postures.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required regularly.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures and loud noise is possible.
• Periodic travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary depending on position demands.
