Physical Security Specialist

Overview

This role is offered by the Department of Health and Human Services within the Office of Safety, Security, and Asset Management, based primarily out of Atlanta, Georgia. This position focuses on managing physical security operations and programs to safeguard personnel, facilities, and assets in compliance with federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage physical security programs by designing and enforcing security protocols, performing facility security evaluations, and maintaining adherence to federal security mandates.
• Conduct thorough vulnerability and risk assessments on physical locations to detect security weaknesses and propose effective protective solutions.
• Oversee implementation and evaluation of physical security systems such as access control mechanisms, intrusion alert devices, video monitoring setups, and screening processes for vehicles and pedestrians.
• Administer security oversight activities including contract management; prepare purchase requests, statements of work, and acquisition strategies; and act as liaison with partners across federal, state, local, and private sectors.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possess at least one year of specialized experience at a GS-12 federal level or equivalent specifically in managing physical security programs with responsibilities including the development, implementation, and assessment described above.
• Provide detailed documentation of prior experience with exact employment periods, weekly hours, and specificity in duties performed in your resume or through official personnel records such as SF-50 or SF-52 forms or supervisory memoranda.
• Experience may include both paid and volunteer roles which contributed skills relevant to physical security management.
