Patrol Boat Skipper

About the Role

Join Banana Island Resort Doha By Anantara, part of Minor Hotels with a global presence across 50+ countries through renowned brands. We are looking for an experienced Patrol Boat Skipper to manage boat operations and ensure guest safety and satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review transfer and excursion schedules each evening, understanding all trip details including guest names and special needs.
• Prepare boats according to trip requirements and operational procedures; ensure supplies like cold towels, beverages, sea sick bands, raincoats, and towels are adequately stocked, especially during rainy seasons.
• Follow comprehensive checklists before trips and maintain rigorous standards for cleanliness, setup, and crew readiness.
• Coordinate meals for crew members who miss meals during trips with appropriate management oversight on costs.
• Ensure all trips prioritize guest comfort, safety, and address guest needs attentively.
• Abide by maritime laws and regulations imposed by the Ministry of Transport & Communication of the Maldives, keep necessary certifications onboard, and maintain all safety equipment including fire extinguishers and life jackets in working order.
• Conduct boat and equipment maintenance in collaboration with engineering teams and keep management informed until issues are fully resolved.
• Evaluate weather conditions to determine trip viability and inform supervisors accordingly.
• Maintain effective communication with airport hosts, resort operators, and the Launch Section Manager to coordinate guest arrivals, departures, and respond promptly to any issues.
• Handle guest inquiries, resolve issues within authority, document incidents, and collect guest feedback for continual service improvement.
• Attend training sessions, demonstrate enthusiasm, develop skills, maintain team spirit, and uphold resort grooming and uniform standards.
• Comply with resort safety, environmental, health, and hygiene policies and contribute to enhancing standard operating procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by department heads or the Resort General Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience as a Patrol Boat Skipper.
• Possess an Oil Carrier Certification and a valid Captain’s License.
• Strong technical knowledge related to boat operations and safety protocols.
• Proficient in English communication with a pleasing personality and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Capable of multitasking efficiently.
