About the Role
The Technical Operations team at BioMarin Pharmaceutical is engaged in the production and scaling up of drugs used in clinical trials and commercial markets. This multidisciplinary group includes engineers, technicians, scientists, and support staff focused on maintaining advanced manufacturing processes, upholding strict quality assurance and control standards, and managing logistics for drug distribution worldwide.
This position is for a Packaging Technician stationed onsite at Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cork. It is a 12-month contract role working 2 shifts, reporting directly to the Packaging Team Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with fellow Packaging Technicians to complete packaging processes for finished products ready for distribution.
- Maintain comprehensive, precise, and legible batch records compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) guidelines.
- Detect any issues on the production line, promptly inform Packaging Equipment Technicians, and assist in resolving these challenges.
- Perform necessary transactions using SAP software.
- Ensure the packaging area is always prepared for inspections.
- Take part in regulatory inspection activities.
- Contribute to drafting, reviewing, and updating packaging documents such as batch records and standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrate consistent commitment to safety within the Packaging Operations team.
- Actively promote continuous improvement and lead initiatives within the packaging suite.
- Lead and aid investigations into process deviations and their corrective actions.
- Maintain exemplary training records personally.
- Carry out operational duties adhering strictly to SOPs, cGMP regulations, and site quality standards while ensuring safety.
Education and Experience
- Experience in regulated industries like biologics, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices is preferred but not mandatory; packaging experience is an advantage.
- At least two years of professional experience working effectively within teams is required.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to focus during repetitive and precise tasks are essential.
- Applicants must be diligent, with excellent teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
