Operations Manager - Warehousing

Overview

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Operations & Solutions for Warehouse & Distribution, the Operations Manager will supervise the daily activities at the distribution center, ensuring high performance across all key metrics. The role demands leadership in workforce planning, operational excellence, health and safety compliance, sustainability efforts, and facility upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and drive operational KPIs to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and service quality throughout the distribution center.
• Plan and manage staffing needs across departments including receiving, shipping, inventory management, value-added services, and returns.
• Ensure effective resource allocation and monitor productivity to meet operational goals.
• Maintain strict compliance with environmental performance indicators, health and safety guidelines, and cleanliness standards.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and cost control measures while preserving high-quality standards.
• Identify areas for process enhancements and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration within teams and with external stakeholders.
• Coach, mentor, and develop supervisory staff to build team capabilities.
• Manage billing and contract compliance responsibilities.
• Oversee labor management aligning with profit and loss objectives.
• Be responsible for preventive maintenance of building and material handling equipment.
• Ensure staff training complies with OSHA regulations including necessary licenses and certifications.

Requirements

• Demonstrated business acumen particularly in warehouse operations and financial management (P&L).
• Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Microsoft Office 365, and attendance/dock management tools.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
• Effective time management and leadership capabilities.
• Experience leading, training, assessing, and supporting teams.
• Skill in delegating responsibilities and achieving operational objectives.
• Previous experience in distribution or manufacturing sectors.
