Role Overview
As the inaugural dedicated Operations Manager for the temporary workforce function, you will manage all touchpoints for temporary workers from signing onward. You will build and optimize the systems and procedures to enhance the worker experience and prepare for scaling the staffing vertical significantly over the next two years.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead onboarding and compliance processes, handling offer letters, background and motor vehicle checks, W9 collection, employment verification, and managing communications through Rippling, including organizing weekly onboarding sessions.
- Serve as primary support for temporary workers addressing pay, per diem, hour-logging inquiries, and complaints with swift resolution and escalation paths.
- Manage time and pay operations including timecard approvals, invoice workflows, and client communication to ensure smooth and largely automated processes.
- Track contract renewals and proactively notify workers ahead of assignment endings to maintain transparency.
- Develop and implement employee experience and engagement initiatives such as check-ins, satisfaction surveys, swag, handwritten notes, and evaluating potential benefits to differentiate Mural.
- Identify and tackle operational projects, focusing on automating processes and minimizing manual tasks.
Success Metrics for Year One
- Complete onboarding and compliance within preset timelines for every temporary worker, ensuring clear points of contact are identified.
- Address routine pay and related questions within one business day.
- Ensure consistent timecard approval cycles across clients without direct founder input.
- Establish measurable baselines for temporary worker satisfaction and engagement.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree required; candidates with entrepreneurial or startup experience even preferable.
- Strong generalist capable of system analysis and problem solving beyond narrow domains.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in People Operations, HR Operations, Management Consulting, or Business Operations at fast-growing, VC-backed startups.
- Proven proficiency with workflow automation tools like Zapier, API integrations, or AI-driven process improvements, accompanied by tangible examples.
- Comfortable managing ambiguity and exercising ownership in evolving environments.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in client-facing contexts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Rippling or other HRIS platforms.
- Background in high-volume marketplaces or staffing firms.
- Exposure to accounts receivable, invoicing, billing, or payroll operations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary between $70,000 and $110,000, commensurate with experience, plus a 10% annual bonus.
- Full employer contribution for medical insurance, with 50% dependent coverage.

Additional Details
The position is fully remote with a preference for candidates located in Nashville, Austin, Atlanta, or Miami. Minimal travel is expected (up to 10%).
