Role overview

The company is hiring an experienced and driven Operations and Settlements Manager to help set up and run a trading operation in Uganda across FX, Bonds, and digital assets. This role sits at the center of daily desk operations, settlement workflows, risk oversight, and regulatory adherence.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the daily middle- and back-office activities of the trading desk, including tracking market movements and supporting market analysis.
• Make sure transactions involving FX, Bonds, and digital assets comply with applicable local rules, policies, and guidelines.
• Create and improve operating policies and procedures that strengthen efficiency, security, and customer experience.
• Handle settlement activities for FX, Bonds, and digital transactions by matching trade confirmations, validating payment details, and fixing any mismatches or issues.
• Coordinate with banks, payment service providers, and other external partners to enable FX and cross-border payment and settlement flows.
• Monitor trading risk by setting limits, tracking positions, and escalating any exceptions or breaches.
• Keep complete and accurate records for transactions, reporting, and audit purposes.
• Support and train team members on operational workflows and best practices.
• Stay informed about current developments and trends in FX and securities markets.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in FX or bond trading, preferably in global or African markets, or in payments operations; experience in a lead or managerial capacity is preferred.
• Good understanding of Uganda’s regulatory environment for FX, Bonds, and digital banking, along with market behavior.
• Comfort using trading platforms, tools, and related software.
• Strong ability to analyze situations, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
• Clear communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to perform well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
• High standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
