Responsibilities

The Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for thorough evaluation, analysis, and approval of mortgage applications according to established policies, regulatory standards, and defined lending limits. The position demands careful credit risk assessment, interpretation of complex financial data, and making consistent, compliant decisions that address member needs. Additionally, this role collaborates closely with the Lending Manager and various departments to ensure smooth mortgage processing from application through closing. Support for compliance, product innovation, and enhancing workflow processes also falls under this role's duties. Successful candidates must demonstrate sharp attention to detail, prudent judgment, and the ability to balance risk management with excellent member service through clear communication and lending solutions.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a minimum of three years of direct mortgage underwriting experience and at least five years in real estate and consumer lending fields. A robust understanding of lending regulations, secondary market requirements, and credit analysis practices is essential. Employment offers are contingent on successful completion of pre-employment screenings including drug testing, background verification, and credit checks.
