Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

We are expanding our mechanical engineering team to support the growing demand in New Zealand's industrial and manufacturing landscape. The successful candidate will engineer and oversee multi-disciplinary projects for key clients, managing everything from concept design, costing, detailed mechanical design development, construction management, through to project commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead small to medium-sized projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery that meets client and company goals.
• Offer specialized mechanical engineering knowledge focused on industrial settings covering detailed mechanical and piping design, technical specification development, and drawing management.
• Collaborate within multi-discipline teams while progressively taking ownership and leadership of projects.
• Develop client-facing skills with an objective to advance towards roles such as project engineer, manager, or commissioning manager.
• Travel to various client and project locations across New Zealand to gain direct experience with industrial mechanical plants, machinery, and automation and control systems.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering accredited by the Washington Accord.
• Minimum of four years relevant experience in a similar engineering role.
• Project management experience or keen interest in enhancing project leadership capabilities.
• Strong technical background in designing hygienic and pressure piping systems, including skills in surge analysis, pipe stress evaluation, and hydraulic assessments.
• Knowledge of PECPR requirements, AS/NZS 1170 standards, ASME B31 code suite, or equivalent technical codes.
• Familiarity with piping industry software such as AutoPIPE, PIPE-FLO, or a readiness to learn related tools.
• Preparedness to travel frequently to onsite project locations.
