Mathematics Tutor Contractor Positions

Opportunity Overview

Concorde Education is looking for independent contractors to deliver in-person mathematics tutoring and academic assistance to students from elementary through high school. Tutors will work onsite at partner schools with schedules and grade levels varying by assignment. Assignments typically last about 10 weeks and offer 1 to 4 hours of tutoring per week after school hours.

Assignment Details

• Conduct engaging, grade-appropriate math tutoring sessions for individuals or small groups;
• Help students build foundational and grade-level math skills through structured lessons, guided practice, and targeted interventions;
• Modify instruction based on student progress, curriculum standards, school guidelines, resources, and program goals;
• Provide homework assistance, test preparation, mathematical reasoning support, and help build student confidence;
• Ensure a safe, respectful, inclusive learning environment;
• Report any significant concerns or requirements to Concorde and school staff;
• Complete session documentation after each tutoring session;
• Adhere to all applicable safety, visitor, classroom, technology, emergency, and student protection protocols.

• Number sense, place value, and math fluency;
• Basic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division strategies;
• Fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and proportional reasoning;
• Integers, rational numbers, and introductory algebra basics;
• Expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, and problem-solving methods;
• Geometry, measurement, area, volume, coordinate graphing, and spatial reasoning;
• Data analysis, statistics, interpreting graphs, and mathematical modeling;
• Homework help, test preparation, study strategies, and exam techniques;
• Developing mathematical confidence, perseverance, accuracy, and logical thinking.

Qualifications

• At least 60 college credits when required by the assignment;
• Strong proficiency in mathematics at the assigned grade levels;
• Experience tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or coaching school-age students;
• Effective communication, organizational, and classroom management skills;
• Availability compatible with the assignment schedule and timely communication of scheduling issues;
• Ability to clearly explain mathematical concepts and adapt lessons to diverse learners.

Preferred candidates may include certified teachers, educators, tutors, college students in math or education, engineers, scientists, accountants, STEM professionals, and others with relevant instructional or quantitative expertise.

Resources and Materials

Instructional materials may be provided by schools, including textbooks, curriculum guides, intervention tools, manipulatives, technology, and assessment resources. Contractors may also use their own material, provided they are appropriate, safe, legal, and align with assignment scope. Purchases must be pre-approved for reimbursement.

Compensation

Payment typically exceeds $50 per tutoring hour, varying by assignment details, experience, location, and schedule. Tutors can propose their rates considering preparation, planning, commute, materials, schedule, and other factors. Concorde will approve, negotiate, or decline proposed rates based on budget. Payment is made by direct deposit by the 15th of the month following service completion, unless otherwise agreed or legally required.

Application and Onboarding

Applicants progressing in the selection process may create a contractor profile and complete onboarding tasks. Applying or onboarding does not guarantee assignment placement. Assignments depend on fit, rate agreement, completion of onboarding, background checks, and required compliance steps such as fingerprinting or site clearance. Applicants should only provide criminal history information if formally requested through legal channels.
