Position Overview

The role involves leading a variety of engaging programs tailored for children, youth, adults, families, and groups. Activities include snorkeling, kayaking, underwater photography and videography, terrestrial botanical park tours, lessons on sustainable living, and arts and crafts. The incumbent is responsible for clearly communicating and enforcing facility safety rules and regulations to ensure guest welfare. Continuous observation of activities is required to address emergencies according to established protocols, and any safety concerns about participants must be promptly reported to management. Familiarity with local cultural and natural heritage is essential to enrich guest experiences. Preparation for activities includes ensuring that co-guides or attendants have the necessary materials, and leading group sessions attentively.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide a diverse range of recreational and educational activities for various age groups and families.
  • Promote and enforce safety regulations within the recreation facility to safeguard guests.
  • Monitor activities vigilantly; respond appropriately in emergencies following local procedures.
  • Recognize situations where guests may be unsafe to participate; alert supervisors when necessary.
  • Prepare all activity materials and support staff prior to commencement.
  • Engage guests with local and cultural heritage knowledge to enhance their experience.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary company information and uphold company policies.
  • Report incidents such as accidents, injuries, or hazardous conditions to management promptly.
  • Successfully complete required safety training and obtain relevant certifications.
  • Provide exceptional guest service by welcoming guests, anticipating needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and expressing genuine appreciation.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously in person and by telephone.
  • Foster positive workplace relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Consistently meet quality standards and contribute ideas to improve organizational excellence.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and ensure safety on varied terrains during activities.
  • Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 pounds as needed.
  • Undertake additional reasonable duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of related professional experience.
  • No prior supervisory experience necessary.
  • Mandatory certifications include Lifeguard, Water Safety, CPR, Oxygen Administration, Epi-pen usage, First Aid, Food Safety, and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Any other certifications as required by local or state regulations.
