Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Operations Manager to oversee manufacturing, maintenance, facilities, quality assurance, and continuous improvement at our North York location. This position is pivotal in steering operational excellence, fostering high-performing teams, ensuring safe, effective, and economical operations, and supporting growth alongside customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily manufacturing operations to meet objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Supervise production, maintenance, facilities management, quality control, and planning functions.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing principles, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen, and overall operational excellence efforts.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead and develop supervisors, team leaders, and production personnel through coaching and mentorship.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs, uphold equipment reliability, and manage facility infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams to enhance operational outcomes.
  • Coordinate production scheduling, labor management, inventory control, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support capital investment initiatives, process enhancements, and manufacturing optimization projects.
  • Manage operational budgets, cost reduction endeavors, and business performance targets.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years leading manufacturing operations, including at least 5 years in roles such as Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or Manufacturing Manager.
  • Proven experience overseeing production, maintenance, quality, planning, and supply chain in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience working with CNC machining, metal fabrication, welding, assembly, or precision manufacturing processes.
  • Skilled in maintenance management, equipment reliability, facility oversight, and tracking manufacturing KPIs like Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, and OEE.
  • Competent in ERP/MRP software, production planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and capability to nurture team development.
  • Fluent English proficiency is required.

Preferred Credentials and Skills

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or related certifications.
  • Experience managing budgets, capital projects, operational results, and profit and loss responsibility.
