Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review design plans for wet utilities including water distribution networks, firefighting systems, sewage, irrigation, and stormwater drainage to ensure full compliance with internal guidelines and external regulatory standards.
  • Analyze hydraulic calculations, assess demand forecasting, verify pump sizing, evaluate pipe routing plans, manhole arrangements, retention systems, and overall network capacity requirements.
  • Ensure seamless integration of proposed wet utility infrastructures with existing and future planned networks to maintain system connectivity and operational effectiveness.
  • Approve and issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) as Master Developer/Owner for wet utility-related authority submissions after coordinating inputs across internal departments and multiple disciplines.
  • Liaise and coordinate with utility authorities such as the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC), and other municipal bodies regarding connection points, diversions, and compliance approvals.
  • Evaluate the impacts of new developments on existing wet utility networks and recommend necessary network upgrades, diversions, or mitigation measures.
  • Review stormwater management strategies including detention and retention basins, overland flow routes, flood protection systems, and sustainability factors.
  • Assist in handling plot-level applications for new wet utility services or modifications including new connections, diversions, and service level upgrades.
  • Participate actively in technical discussions with developers, consultants, and regulators to resolve comments and ensure design alignment with authorities' expectations.
  • Ensure all designs incorporate considerations for long-term operation, ease of maintenance access, safety standards, and resilience especially in industrial and logistics-related areas.
  • Maintain meticulous records relating to wet utility approvals, load allocations, network capacities, and commitments related to infrastructure build-out.
  • Draft comprehensive technical reports, review summaries, cover letters, and authoritative submission documents for wet utility projects.
  • Keep abreast of latest regulations, design standards, hydraulic modeling techniques, and best industry practices applicable to wet utilities in Abu Dhabi and broader UAE industrial settings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline is mandatory; a Master’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in Urban Planning with a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydraulic simulation tools, GIS, and other specialized wet utility design and analysis software.
  • Ability to interpret outputs from hydraulic models, simulate network flows, determine pipe sizes and pump capacities, and conduct comprehensive stormwater drainage evaluations.
  • Skilled in producing sketches, technical mark-ups, and layout diagrams essential for design review and technical stakeholder engagement.
