Overview
The Manager - Construction oversees the full lifecycle of assigned construction projects, ensuring they adhere strictly to defined scope, budget, and timelines. This role takes complete responsibility for project execution in accordance with established operational procedures while actively seeking to enhance those processes continuously. The primary aim is to ensure successful project delivery meeting quality and cost efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of the construction project safety program, collaborating closely with safety departments to guarantee compliance with OSHA regulations, corporate policies, and safety mandates.
- Act as the lead construction management representative for project teams, guiding and directing construction activities.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with varying parameters, setting achievable milestones and overseeing schedule adherence.
- Provide information and support to internal teams and business partners to facilitate project progress and organizational workflow.
- Participate in pre- and post-bid scope and constructability reviews during project design stages.
- Develop comprehensive project implementation plans and timelines with assistance from Facilities Asset Management schedulers.
- Assist project managers with evaluating project alternatives and options.
- Control project schedules, emphasizing critical path tasks, and verify contractor resourcing aligns with project timelines.
- Integrate operational constraints and project goals to ensure seamless execution, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders about project progress, schedule, finances, and guest impact.
- Effectively disseminate project updates to lines of business clients and impacted resort divisions and management.
- Utilize project and contract management tools in day-to-day operations.
- Conduct constructability reviews and propose value engineering solutions.
- Document daily field reports in project management systems.
- Review and manage field directives, ensuring contractor adherence to contract, specifications, codes, and Disney standards.
- Promote continuous improvement in performance, operational efficiency, and financial prudence.
- Provide accurate technical data to estimators for budgeting purposes.
- Lead professional meetings with executive stakeholders.
- Foster collaborative relationships with team members, clients, and contractors.
- Partner with business units to align final project outcomes with business objectives.
- Coordinate with program and project managers on change orders, field directives, and financial impacts for precise reporting.
- Mentor and support the development and training of cast members under supervision.
Qualifications
- At least eight years of experience overseeing multiple commercial construction projects with budgets ranging from $10,000 to $30,000,000.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities managing personnel and multiple projects.
- Proficient in interpreting and analyzing contract documents and specifications.
- Skilled in project budgeting and financial oversight.
- Experienced using construction management software and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledgeable about OSHA regulations and safety compliance.
- High School diploma with specialized coursework in building construction disciplines such as MEP, estimating, and contract document reading.
Additional Information
The position offers a competitive salary range in Anaheim, CA from $126,800 to $170,000 annually, with the exact base pay dependent on factors such as geographic location, expertise, and experience.
