Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

The Luxury Collection is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join their team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This full-time, non-management position requires hands-on expertise to address guest repair requests, conduct preventive maintenance, and manage general upkeep of equipment and facilities within the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and effectively to guest service repair requests, ensuring open communication for maintenance issue resolution.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on kitchen tools, machinery, and equipment including cleaning and lubrication.
• Carry out visual inspections of equipment and tools and transport necessary materials such as tools and radios.
• Locate and operate all shut-off valves and service disconnection keys for building systems.
• Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and order parts as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to other shift employees using established communication tools and standards.
• Exhibit foundational skills or willingness to learn in areas such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, energy conservation, and building management.
• Perform surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood repairs, replacement of light bulbs and AC filters, and thorough cleaning after maintenance work.
• Test, diagnose and troubleshoot various equipment failures, handle plumbing blockages, replace electrical components, and manage guest room related maintenance.
• Program televisions and conduct general engineering inventory and maintenance tasks.
• Execute Lockout/Tagout safety procedures before maintenance work.
• Maintain indoor and outdoor gardens, including irrigation systems.
• Operate computers for scheduling air regulation systems and temperature adjustments.
• Comply with all company safety policies, report hazards, accidents or maintenance issues, complete required safety training, and properly store flammable materials.
• Maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene; respect property confidentiality and protect company assets.
• Greet and assist guests with genuine hospitality, including accommodations for persons with disabilities, and uphold company service standards.
• Foster positive working relationships with colleagues, support team goals, and effectively communicate professionally.
• Lift, move or maneuver objects up to 50 pounds independently; perform tasks requiring bending, climbing, reaching, and other physical activities.
• Enter job-related data into computer systems accurately.
• Perform other reasonable duties as directed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Preferred education: high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate or vocational/technical training.
• Previous experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, interior and exterior painting preferred.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is considered an asset.
• Valid driver's license required.
