Learning Support Assistant (Sakina)

Role Overview

SEHA - Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for Sakina in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on giving tailored support to a student so they can participate fully in school life, both during lessons and in activities outside class.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one help so the student can access the curriculum and navigate the school setting.
• Support learning during class, break periods, and after-school activities whenever needed.
• Understand the student's IEP and work toward the objectives set out in it.
• Coordinate with teachers, key workers, and other specialists such as speech and language therapists as required.
• Encourage the student's independence, communication abilities, and self-confidence.
• Spot obstacles that may affect learning and help remove them so the student can engage with lessons.
• Assist with reading, written assignments, and completion of classroom tasks.
• Promote social inclusion through group work, clubs, trips, and wider school activities.
• Keep clear records and support progress updates and review meetings.
• Follow all relevant safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies.

Requirements

• A degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a closely related subject.
• Strong numeracy and literacy abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational ability and the capacity to work to deadlines.
• Commitment to safeguarding children and supporting their welfare.
• A valid UAE Police Clearance Certificate, or readiness to obtain one.
• High levels of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
