Job Location
This position is based onsite in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect laboratory specimens, accurately entering data into reporting systems and documenting any incidents.
- Handle consumable materials by receiving, recording, cleaning, and assembling kit components.
- Follow established procedures for specimen handling and maintain thorough records of patient test results.
- Adhere to quality control policies to ensure laboratory standards are met.
- Assemble and disassemble kit trays and materials as required to support laboratory operations.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and organized sample reception area for optimal functionality.
- Identify and resolve issues that could negatively impact test performance, documenting corrective actions taken.
- Provide assistance and support to Laboratory Technologists as needed.
- Manage documentation and oversee outsourcing related to the sample reception area.
- Provide administrative backing to the laboratory team, including proofreading company documentation before data entry.
- Enter and update client information accurately using proper software systems.
- Register and manage any non-conformities related to the pre-analytical processes.
- Support handling physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds as necessary.
- Perform any other duties assigned to support laboratory functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- An associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of one year’s experience in a similar laboratory reception role is advantageous.
