Lab Associate

Role Overview

This position centers around managing daily laboratory operations and leading initiatives that support the growth of a dynamic entrepreneurial engineering community, especially in labs and hardware development. The Lab Associate plays a critical role in organizing educational events, managing lab resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact to oversee all routine laboratory functions and take full responsibility for operational success.
• Plan and support events and activities that build vibrant sub-communities focused on engineering innovations.
• Coordinate and help deliver training programs, integrating participant feedback to enhance the use of lab equipment and facilities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through regular inspections and monitoring procedures.
• Review lab protocols from various collaborators to stay updated on project activities and methodologies.
• Manage inventory controls and place orders to maintain sufficient supplies for equipment operation.
• Work closely with researchers, startups, corporate clients, and other stakeholders to understand and support their laboratory needs.
• Keep abreast of technological advances relevant to the lab’s field and disseminate this knowledge within the team.
• Prepare ongoing reports detailing lab activities, progress of projects, and resource utilization.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and safety of lab operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline pertinent to lab work.
• Possesses 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience managing laboratory environments and activities.
• Has a proficient understanding of laboratory instruments, techniques, and safety guidelines.
• Exemplary communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates eagerness to learn and contribute proactively as a cooperative team member, ready to take on varied tasks.
