Job description
Overview
An Abu Dhabi-based investment company is growing its operations, and Tech Pipeline is assisting by resolving challenges in their internal software systems. The Junior Web Developer position focuses on constructing and maintaining reliable technical solutions to ensure smooth transfer of financial data between different platforms. This role emphasizes hands-on implementing fixes rather than theoretical strategies.
Role Summary
Tech Pipeline specializes in repairing the critical but overlooked parts of business workflows. For this client, this entails monitoring how investment data travels from its primary source to reporting tools. The developer will investigate codebases and system logs to diagnose routing failures or discrepancies in reconciliation reports, ensuring permanent resolutions. The position is fully remote and involves collaborating closely with the team to deliver sustainable technical fixes that allow the client to independently operate post-engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Trace and follow data flows across existing web apps to locate bottlenecks or failures.
- Create and revise scripts that maintain consistent formatting for financial data across systems.
- Analyze system log files to troubleshoot stuck automated approval workflows, such as email queues.
- Develop internal web-based forms and dashboards for operations teams to better manage workload backlogs.
- Document in detail the rationale behind fixes so client staff can understand and maintain systems autonomously.
- Test routing rules in staging environments to prevent disruptions in live systems.
- Report weekly progress, issues, and resolutions during technical meetings.
- Verify accurate and reconciled data exchange between the firm’s CRM and internal ledgers.
Candidate Requirements
- Fundamental skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Capability to interpret technical log files and extract meaningful error information.
- Strong written communication for producing clear, straightforward documentation.
- Self-discipline for remote task management.
- Interest in understanding the practical functioning of financial operations and data pipelines.
- Curiosity about software integration via APIs.
- Persistence in debugging problematic code fragments.
- Attention to detail to ensure long-term stable solutions rather than temporary fixes.
Helpful Experience
- Exposure to basic automation or scripting (e.g., Python) gained through studies.
- Familiarity with finance, accounting, or business operations from projects or internships.
- A portfolio presenting small but effective web applications demonstrating coding and deployment skills.
- Experience using version control systems such as Git for source code management.
Benefits and Work Environment
- A permanent full-time remote role.
- Opportunity to develop applied web development skills within a professional finance context.
- Competitive compensation matching current market standards for this experience level.
- Workplace culture that prioritizes high-quality code and thorough documentation.
- Mentorship from experienced developers focused on practical, verifiable solutions rather than theoretical frameworks.
- Chance to contribute to meaningful projects solving real challenges for a significant investment firm.
- Concentration on creating tools that are functional, sustainable, and user-friendly for operational teams.
Company Culture
Tech Pipeline values clear documentation and straightforward communication, minimizing meetings in favor of well-documented code and concise updates. The team works remotely but remains closely connected to technical realities. When projects conclude, the system must be stable enough for client independence. Employees are expected to be proactive, ask insightful questions when necessary, and produce maintainable code understandable for future maintainers.
