Role Overview

The Junior Designer will collaborate with experienced engineers and design professionals to develop precise civil engineering documentation for various land development and infrastructure initiatives. The position emphasizes preparing detailed engineering drawings, plans, and technical documents aligned with Australian standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Generate comprehensive civil engineering drawings, plans, and relevant design documents for development and infrastructure projects.
• Create technical drawings regarding roads, lot grading, earthworks, stormwater drainage, and associated civil structures.
• Support engineers with the design process and revise construction documentation as needed.
• Interpret engineering specifications, survey data, standards, and design criteria to develop accurate technical plans.
• Produce drawings suitable for Development Applications (DA), Operational Works (OPW) approvals, and construction use.
• Apply 12d Model, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D software tools for drafting and updating engineering documentation.
• Prepare sketches, layouts, sections, details, and supporting documents for civil projects.
• Assist in compiling quantities, schedules, and supplementary technical documentation.
• Maintain drawing registers to ensure documentation is current, accurate, and compliant with quality procedures.
• Engage with engineers, surveyors, clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies to coordinate project documentation requirements.
• Ensure compliance of all drawings with applicable Australian Standards, local authority guidelines, and internal quality standards.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in drafting templates, standards, and technical workflows.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Design, Engineering Drafting, or a related field.
• At least three years of relevant experience in civil engineering drafting and design.
• Proven background in generating detailed civil engineering plans for land development and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in 12d Model and AutoCAD software.
• Strong knowledge of road design, earthworks, lot grading, and stormwater management principles.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards and local authority design requirements.
• Excellent technical drafting skills combined with strong spatial awareness and analytical problem-solving ability.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a professional team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Civil 3D, Drains, or MUSIC software tools.
• Background in producing documentation for subdivision and development projects.
• Understanding of Queensland development and infrastructure approval procedures.
