Role Overview
This position is charged with providing comprehensive internal guest care throughout their stay, supporting all hotel departments, and continuously improving skills through training. The role aims to uphold the highest professional standards of Butler Service, exceeding guest expectations, and entails membership in the Evacuation Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a well-groomed, neat, and pleasant appearance and ensure punctuality.
- Organize and prepare welcoming amenities for guests.
- Record and update guest and operational information as guided by the Butler Manager, including daily activity boards and logbooks.
- Review guest arrival details including preferences and profiles to personalize service.
- Conduct thorough handovers during shift changes and maintain pantry cleanliness and stock levels.
- Inspect and personalize guest rooms per individual preferences, ensuring all equipment and controls function properly.
- Collaborate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure arrival rooms meet brand standards and coordinate maintenance repairs through supervision.
- Escort guests to rooms, provide hotel orientation, and explain butler services.
- Maintain Butler tools such as iPads and ensure communication apps are operational.
- Pay special attention to family-occupied rooms respecting cultural considerations.
- Offer luggage unpacking and assist with laundry, pressing, dry cleaning, and wardrobe upkeep.
- Coordinate floral arrangements and daily replenishment of in-room amenities like fruit baskets and mini-fridge supplies.
- Handle guest shoe polishing and deliver mail, messages, and packages promptly.
- Manage guest checkout processes including luggage, travel arrangements, lost and found, and guest feedback reporting.
- Adhere strictly to fire and evacuation procedures and remain flexible to operational needs and working hours.
Guest Service Focus
- Deliver refined, discreet, and anticipatory guest service ensuring comfort and satisfaction throughout their stay.
- Assist with in-room requests and communicate hotel services confidently.
- Address guests by name and maintain professional, positive relations respecting privacy and culture.
- Complete all assigned tasks attentively and respect confidentiality concerning all sensitive information.
Operational Duties
- Ensure thorough and effective shift handovers with clear communication.
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of serviced areas.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of hotel features, restaurant menus, room types, occupancy, and local attractions.
- Coordinate maintenance work orders and follow all standard operating procedures.
Health and Safety Compliance
- Follow all health and safety rules and use protective equipment as required.
- Report equipment or infrastructural defects and any accidents immediately.
- Participate in required fire and safety trainings and be familiar with COSHH regulations, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 1-2 years of experience in Butler services, guest relations, or luxury hospitality.
- Proficient with computers and smart devices.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; additional languages beneficial.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, time management, and decision-making capabilities.
- Team-oriented, proactive, assertive, and able to handle pressure effectively.
- Physically capable of duties involving lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended times.
Additional Information
- No formal licenses required; Butler certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Flexibility with duties and work schedules to meet operational demands is essential.
