Who We Are
With over two decades of expertise in mortgage and insurance distribution, NZ Financial Services Group unites the most comprehensive range of support services in the industry. Hosting over 1,000 members providing home loans, insurance, and various financial services nationwide, we stand as a leading family-owned and privately held company built on core family values. Formed in 2013 through the merger of Allied Kiwi and Loan Market, we are one of the largest financial services firms in New Zealand.
About the Role
The Recruitment Specialist role focuses on acquiring new business by recruiting firms and advisers, rather than managing existing partnerships. This position aims to close the acquisition gap by placing recruits into the optimal engagement model—Member (flat fee), Partner (firms settling $50 million+), or Loan Market NZ—working closely with Loan Market NZ where appropriate. A recruitment-revenue KPI drives performance, ensuring the role remains focused on active hunting. Post-contract and onboarding, engagements transition to a Relationship Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end process of new firm and adviser acquisition, including sourcing, qualification, contracting, and closing.
- Develop and leverage the banker-to-adviser pathway and engage with firms transitioning from other aggregators.
- Assign each recruit to the most suitable business model (Member, Partner, Loan Market NZ).
- Introduce Relationship Managers prior to contract closure to ensure smooth handover.
- Implement NZ's recruitment strategy, building and nurturing a robust talent network and prospective business connections.
- Oversee the selection process, guaranteeing that new recruits align with the company’s vision and values.
Onboarding and Handover
- Facilitate a formal transition to Relationship Managers within 14-30 days post-contract, maintaining light involvement during first settlements.
- Collaborate with Sales Support and Adviser Onboarding Coordinators to ensure recruitment focus remains on sourcing and closing rather than administrative tasks.
Team and Organizational Contributions
- Assist with the execution of NZFSG’s strategic plans by sharing industry insights and collaborating to resolve business challenges.
- Establish and sustain strong internal stakeholder relationships and embody NZFSG’s core values consistently.
Performance Metrics
The role is measured by a focused recruitment-revenue KPI to maintain responsibility for net-new acquisitions and prevent dilution into existing relationship management.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in new business acquisition or business development.
- Diploma in Financial Services or equivalent is preferred; a degree is an advantage.
- At least 10 years of banking or financial services experience, unless qualified by Diploma or Degree.
- Strong dedication to exceptional customer service.
- Preferably experienced in the mortgage adviser industry.
- Ability to remain resilient and effective in uncertain environments.
- High persistence and adaptability.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for collaboration.
- A proactive mindset that embraces challenges and supports growth in others.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
