General Manager

Role overview

A major European group with an active acquisition strategy is looking for a General Manager to run one of its Irish platforms in the technical and safety-critical systems space. The business is made up of multiple companies with meaningful scale and strong growth ambitions.

This is a senior leadership position with complete commercial ownership. You will guide a team of experienced Managing Directors as one integrated unit, take responsibility for the combined P&L, and help move the platform into its next phase of expansion.

What you will do

• Direct several established trading businesses so they operate as one strong, high-performing platform.
• Take ownership of financial performance, forecasting, margin control, and capital allocation.
• Roll out a single digital operating system across all businesses.
• Create consistency in processes, pricing discipline, and service delivery.
• Lead the sales approach, with a strong emphasis on expanding recurring revenue.
• Spot, assess, and incorporate acquisition opportunities.
• Promote a workplace culture built around safety, quality, and high standards.

What they are looking for

This position is for a leader who influences through credibility and experience, not by relying on spreadsheets alone. You should be able to earn the trust of seasoned operators, quickly understand people and situations, and manage the business through a focused set of critical numbers while maintaining very high personal standards.

The ideal candidate will have a background in a regulated, technical, or safety-critical environment, along with experience running a multi-site or group structure at General Manager level or equivalent. You should also bring strong P&L accountability, technical understanding, familiarity with regulations and standards, and the ability to lead and challenge senior managers effectively.

Additional desirable experience

A degree in business or engineering would be beneficial. Experience with lean methods or operational excellence, plus a history of deploying a digital operating platform across several businesses, would also be an advantage.
