General Manager Distribution

About the Role

Our client, a thriving wholesale distribution company based in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee their supply chain operations. This strategic leadership position reports directly to the CEO and entails managing a complex, multi-location distribution network. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and spearheading transformational initiatives to support the organization's growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full accountability for the operations of a large-scale, multi-site distribution network.
• Manage warehousing, transportation, logistics, inventory control, procurement, and customer fulfillment functions.
• Develop and implement operational strategies aimed at increasing efficiency, enhancing service levels, and boosting profitability.
• Lead continuous improvement projects focused on productivity enhancement, cost reduction, and operational performance upgrades.
• Oversee financial aspects of the supply chain, including budgeting, forecasting, labour productivity, and tracking key performance indicators.
• Foster collaboration across departments such as Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, and Executive Leadership to ensure alignment of operations with broader business goals.
• Mentor, coach, and guide a high-performing management team to achieve organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain management, distribution, logistics, or wholesale operations.
• Proven track record managing large, complex multi-site operations with demonstrable success in operational turnarounds and business improvements.
• Extensive expertise in warehousing, logistics, inventory management, procurement, and transportation.
• Proficiency in leveraging ERP/MRP systems and operational data analytics to inform strategic choices.
• Strong financial skills with experience in budget management, cost control, and evaluating operational performance.
• Executive-level presence with excellent influencing and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Experience in distribution, foodservice, or other high-volume operational settings is highly preferred; managing perishable product distribution is a valuable asset.
