Position Summary
We are seeking a General Manager (CEO) to lead the US operations of a prominent China-based publicly listed Contract Research Organization (CRO). Located in the Greater Boston Area, MA, this senior executive role will demand a visionary leader with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and CRO sectors to steer the company towards growth, innovation, and operational excellence in the US preclinical research market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic growth plans aligned with the Board of Directors’ goals for the US market.
- Drive expansion of market presence, increase revenue streams, and enhance profitability in preclinical services.
- Identify and capitalize on emerging trends within the US biopharma and CRO industries.
- Manage all US operations including sites in Boston and California, ensuring high standards of regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Optimize budgeting, resource utilization, and financial outcomes to achieve or surpass established KPIs.
- Establish scalable processes that support rapid expansion and foster cross-departmental collaboration.
- Lead and motivate a diverse workforce spanning two locations, cultivating a culture of high performance and innovation.
- Attract and develop top talent while reinforcing company values and team cohesion across sites.
- Expand the client portfolio in the US by forging strategic partnerships, enhancing client acquisition, and improving retention.
- Leverage extensive networks and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in pharmaceuticals, biotech, and regulatory agencies.
- Enhance the organization’s reputation as a leading preclinical CRO partner within the US market.
- Provide regular updates to the Board regarding financial performance, key milestones, and risk management strategies.
- Collaborate closely with global leadership to align US operations with international objectives and share best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or related pharmaceutical research disciplines.
- Minimum 10 years progressive leadership experience within the pharmaceutical/CRO industry, including at least 3 years in executive leadership roles (e.g., VP, SVP, C-suite).
- Demonstrated success managing large teams of approximately 100+ personnel.
- Extensive expertise in preclinical services such as drug discovery, toxicology, and DMPK focused on the US market.
- Thorough knowledge of US FDA regulations, trends in preclinical research, and competitive CRO landscape.
- Established connections with senior stakeholders in biopharma companies and academic institutions.
- Proven leadership skills driving cultural integration, organizational transformation, and interdepartmental alignment.
- Exceptional communication abilities with fluency in both English and Chinese.
- Applicants must be Chinese-speaking individuals capable of fluent communication in both English and Chinese.
