HYDE Hotel is a distinguished 4-star boutique establishment located in the center of Galway City, featuring 69 unique guest rooms. The hotel offers a compelling blend of premium accommodation and a distinctive food and beverage portfolio including:

• HYDE Bar & Restaurant – a vibrant, standalone venue with its own entrance and strong local identity, unlike a traditional hotel bar.
• Jekyll – a versatile function and events area accommodating up to 90 guests, doubling as an extended restaurant space during busy periods.
• Wylde Café – a modern café with its own street entrance that caters to a bustling daytime clientele.

While food and beverage outlets prominently define the brand, room revenue remains the primary profit driver. The General Manager is tasked with ensuring a balance between maximizing room revenue and delivering excellent food and beverage as well as guest experiences.

Role Purpose

The General Manager is responsible for steering the strategic direction, leadership, and profitable operation of HYDE Hotel. Key objectives include:

• Maintaining strong room revenue and profitability.
• Delivering exceptional guest experiences across all outlets.
• Enhancing brand positioning for HYDE Bar, Jekyll, and Wylde Café.
• Ensuring high satisfaction among owners and stakeholders.
• Building and sustaining a motivated, high-performing team culture driven by continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & People Management: Inspire and guide the management team, cultivate a positive and accountable workplace, oversee recruitment and training to uphold high standards and minimize turnover, and ensure compliance with HR policies and employment legislation.
• Commercial & Revenue Management: Own the overall P&L and achieve revenue, GOP, and EBITDA targets. Collaborate with revenue management and sales/marketing teams to optimize ADR, occupancy, RevPAR, and room profitability across all booking channels. Manage rate and inventory in alignment with market demand and brand values.
• Rooms & Guest Experience: Maintain top-tier standards in room presentation, cleanliness, maintenance, and amenities. Manage front office, reservations, and guest communications efficiently. Obtain guest feedback from multiple channels and implement enhancements promptly, fostering a guest-centric environment.
• Food & Beverage Operations: Oversee the operations of HYDE Bar & Restaurant, Jekyll, and Wylde Café as separate but integrated entities. Define clear concepts, target markets, and commercial objectives for each. Optimize F&B revenue via menu design, pricing strategies, beverage program, promotions, events, and local partnerships. Ensure high-quality service and atmosphere appropriate for a busy urban setting.
• Events & Functions (Jekyll): Maximize private event and corporate function revenues, coordinate seamlessly among sales, event, kitchen, and service teams, and maintain excellence in event reliability and flexibility.
• Brand, Marketing & Community: Position HYDE Hotel and its outlets as premier destinations in Galway. Work closely with marketing to elevate brand presence through social media, PR, and local partnerships. Foster relationships with local businesses, tourism, and community organizations.
• Financial Management & Controls: Collaborate with finance teams for budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting. Control expenses in payroll, purchasing, utilities, and overhead while maintaining quality. Implement stringent financial controls, inventory management, and loss prevention measures.
• Compliance, Safety & Standards: Ensure adherence to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements including health and safety, food safety (HACCP), fire safety, and licensing laws. Maintain brand and quality standards, oversee property maintenance, and protect assets.

Candidate Profile

• Experience: Substantial experience (3 to 5+ years) in senior roles such as General Manager or Senior Operations Manager within 4-star city-center or boutique hotels. Proven success in achieving robust room revenue and profitability. Background in food and beverage operations, particularly with standalone bars/restaurants, busy urban venues, and event/function management. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Skills & Competencies: Strong commercial insight with proven P&L management, expertise in revenue management, pricing, and distribution channels. High commitment to guest service excellence and quality standards. Outstanding leadership, communication, and personnel management capabilities. Ability to combine strategic vision with operational execution. Comfortable operating in a dynamic, multi-outlet environment with strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
