Job Location and Shift Details

This position is based at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital located in Norfolk, Virginia. It primarily involves working the third shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with secondary shifts available from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The role is classified as essential personnel with 40 hours per week of rotating shifts.

Overview and Responsibilities

The General Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for conducting upkeep and repair tasks across various building systems, including flooring, walls, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, transportation systems, and more. Training is provided during the earlier shifts (first and second shifts), and key duties include addressing issues related to elevators, tube stations, and fire alarms promptly and effectively.

Certification and Qualifications

Preferred candidates hold Refrigerant Recovery certification, either Type I, Type II, or Universal. A minimum of one full year of experience in general maintenance is required, along with a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license for Virginia or North Carolina.
