Job description

Job Overview

This position involves maintaining cleanliness and appearance of facility floors and carpets through various cleaning and finishing techniques. The role includes additional housekeeping duties assigned by supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain floors by sweeping, dusting, damp or wet mopping, and disinfecting as needed.
  • Clean carpets through vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting procedures.
  • Buff floors using floor machines along with suitable pads and finishes to restore shine.
  • Refinish floors by applying stripping or scrubbing methods where necessary.
  • Collect and dispose of trash appropriately in designated areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of entry and exit door areas by removing trash, cigarette butts, cleaning glass surfaces, and sweeping mats.
  • Clean equipment daily and report any needed repairs to supervisors.
  • Scrub and sanitize shower rooms daily.
  • Manage assigned cleaning zones by removing trash, sweeping, and spot mopping floors.
  • Properly handle the removal and disposal of biohazard containers every day.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures while performing duties.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; however, prior work experience is not required as on-the-job training is provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to be physically active throughout the workday, including consistent movement.
  • Capability to reach, bend, and stoop intermittently during shifts.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, push, pull, bend, lift, grasp, and demonstrate fine hand coordination.
  • Adequate vision and hearing capacity, with or without prosthetics, to safely and effectively perform job tasks.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, or carry loads up to 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and assistance.
  • Ability to push, pull, or move loads up to 100 pounds using correct body mechanics and assistance.
  • Capacity to remain standing or walking for approximately 75% of the workday.
  • Capability to manage the mental and emotional demands related to the job.
