Halter is dedicated to empowering farmers and graziers with tools to make their operations more productive and sustainable. Our technology enables cattle management without traditional barriers like quad bikes, dogs, or fences. Imagine calmly moving 500 cattle at their own pace — that’s the magic Halter delivers, revolutionizing the grazing industry and transforming lives through innovative agri-tech. Our team is driven by challenge, excellence, and making a tangible impact in the agricultural sector.

Role Overview

We are searching for a driven Fleet Specialist based in Palmerston North, New Zealand, to support the maintenance and optimal function of Halter’s hardware infrastructure on farms. You will be pivotal in keeping systems efficient, addressing technical difficulties swiftly, and refining our hardware’s reliability across the customer base. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic collaboration across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Halter’s hardware infrastructure to ensure consistent operation.
  • Diagnose hardware problems and communicate findings to relevant internal teams.
  • Switch between diverse tasks such as maintenance, upgrading equipment, and deploying devices on farms.
  • Support on-site deployment activities, troubleshooting and ensuring effective installation of new equipment.
  • Participate in a global on-call schedule to handle tower-related incidents promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, product, and customer success teams to enhance customer outcomes.
  • Resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize disruption in farm activities.
  • Handle multiple simultaneous responsibilities to meet the demands of a dynamic environment.
  • Analyze data from hardware devices to optimize operations and guide decision-making.
  • Develop and manage a maintenance system tailored for the New Zealand market.
  • Travel regularly within South Island and throughout New Zealand as required, including multiple days and nights per week away from home.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven hands-on experience in using tools, electrical work, construction, networking, or equipment fitting.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a willingness to tackle challenges independently.
  • Adaptable and resourceful, capable of performing diverse tasks without always having technical instructions.
  • Skilled in managing time effectively to complete tasks as scheduled.
  • A team player with strong communication and cooperation skills across various locations.
  • Committed to maintaining a high standard of hardware performance and customer service.
  • Prepared for frequent travel, including both planned and spontaneous trips, often spending up to 3-4 days and nights per week on the road.
  • Experience in agriculture is advantageous but not a strict requirement.

Why Join Halter?

  • Engage in meaningful work that substantively improves the farming industry and helps farmers spend more quality time with their families.
  • Work with talented, diverse, and driven colleagues on challenging problems that have real-world impact.
  • Benefit from autonomy, learning opportunities, and a personal growth fund to hone your skills and expand your expertise.
  • Embrace a fast-paced, bold, and rewarding work environment that drives industry transformation.

Diversity and Inclusion

Halter values a workplace where everyone can be authentic and thrive. We encourage applications from candidates who may not meet every requirement but feel excited about the role and our mission. We welcome all who want to contribute and grow in a supportive environment.
