Role Overview
The Flat Roofer position is a hands-on field role focused on installing, repairing, and maintaining low slope roofing and waterproofing systems on commercial and industrial buildings. You will use drawings and specifications to accurately install membranes, insulation, and flashing, ensuring a watertight and safe application on every project. Working closely with a crew, you will report to a site supervisor or foreman, assisting with material handling, equipment setup, and coordinating daily work progress. Your craftsmanship will contribute to clean installs, tidy job sites, and trust within your team as you adapt to changing roof conditions. Travel to various job sites across the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas will be required as projects arise.

Key Responsibilities
- Install roofing membranes, insulation, flashing, and related materials on flat and low slope roofs
- Prepare roof surfaces and substrates prior to installation
- Apply roofing systems including torch on, TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen according to manufacturer guidelines
- Interpret and follow project drawings and specifications precisely
- Set up and operate roofing equipment safely, including torches, kettles, and hoisting gear
- Coordinate material handling and job site staging with team members and supervisors
- Detect and report any defects, leaks, or substrate problems before they escalate
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment during work
- Maintain cleanliness and organization on job sites throughout the workday
- Travel to project locations throughout the GTA and nearby regions as required
Qualifications and Attributes
- 3 to 5 years of practical experience in installing flat and low slope roofing systems
- Knowledge of TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, torch on, and built-up roofing methods
- Understanding of waterproofing principles and building envelope systems
- Possession of Working at Heights certification and valid WHMIS training or willingness to obtain these before starting
- Ability to read and follow basic construction drawings and specifications diligently
- Committed to producing clean, watertight installations without cutting corners
- Comfortable working at heights and adapting to variable weather conditions
- Effective communicator with crew members and supervisors regarding progress and site issues
- Dependable, punctual, and a team-oriented mindset from the start of employment
