Finance Assistant

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Finance Assistant eager to advance beyond routine accounting tasks and become an impactful business partner. This role offers the unique opportunity to work closely with senior commercial leaders within one of New Zealand's premier media companies, contributing to key business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with General Managers and Commercial leaders to deliver financial insights and analyze business performance.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting processes.
• Examine revenue streams, profit margins, and overall business metrics to pinpoint risks and opportunities.
• Support financial modeling and prepare business cases for new initiatives.
• Create meaningful reports that facilitate informed commercial decision-making.
• Establish and maintain trusted relationships across departments, acting as a valued financial partner.

Candidate Profile

• Possess approximately 1 to 3 years experience in Commercial Finance, Management Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, or Business Partnering.
• Demonstrated ability to engage directly with senior stakeholders, offering commercial insights, challenging perspectives appropriately, and fostering trusted relationships.
• Hold a degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Committed to pursuing or planning to start CA or CPA certification.
• Experienced and confident user of Excel and familiar with various financial systems.
• Skilled in developing budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and management reports.
• Curious about business operations with a strong desire to influence commercial outcomes.
