About the Role
Join Octopus as an Events Manager, where you will take full ownership of designing and delivering a dynamic, commercially focused events program spanning three brands: Octopus Investments, Octopus Ventures, and Octopus Capital. The portfolio includes diverse formats such as financial adviser roundtables, founder networking dinners, portfolio showcases, and institutional investor briefings. Your role is to build relationships, generate leads, and enhance the firm's reputation across varied audiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive planning and execution of events aligned with each brand’s marketing and business goals.
- Continuously analyze and enhance the events strategy by proposing innovative concepts and delivering them effectively.
- Oversee end-to-end event management, including briefing, venue negotiations, logistics coordination, delegate administration, and follow-up activities.
- Maintain a strategic and prioritized events calendar to ensure focus on high-impact activities.
- Collaborate with marketing, distribution, and investment teams to shape event strategies and optimize outcomes.
- Manage and control event budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and demonstrable return on investment.
- Build and nurture relationships with external partners such as venues, agencies, and technology providers.
- Drive the execution of digital and hybrid events, maximizing engagement through online platforms.
- Ensure compliance with financial promotion regulations and uphold brand standards across all events.
- Produce thorough post-event reports assessing attendance, engagement, and commercial impact for continuous improvement.
- Scout new formats and opportunities to increase brand visibility and support business development.
- Maintain transparent communication with internal stakeholders on event pipelines, risks, and progress.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor events to ensure Octopus’s strategic presence and differentiation.
- Work closely with the wider marketing team for alignment and support on campaigns and projects as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience managing B2B events end-to-end, preferably within financial or professional services sectors.
- Excellent project management capabilities to juggle concurrent events across various brands and audiences.
- Strong initiative and decisiveness to drive projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in budget management with a record of delivering quality events on time and on budget.
- Effective stakeholder engagement skills, comfortable interacting with senior internal teams and cross-functional partners.
- Competency in sourcing and managing suppliers, venues, and external agencies.
- Hands-on expertise in delivering digital and hybrid events including webinars and streamed sessions.
- Detail-oriented from communications to on-site logistics, ensuring nothing is overlooked.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of regulated environments with capability to operate within financial promotion guidelines.
