About the Role
SyBridge Technologies is searching for an accomplished Engineering Manager to lead our Engineering Department at our Lakeshore, Ontario site. This pivotal leadership role is key to ensuring that our engineering team consistently achieves project deadlines and adheres to the highest standards of quality. As a direct report to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for mentoring your team, managing workloads, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a productive and positive work environment. This is an excellent fit for a proven engineering leader with an automotive manufacturing background, hands-on technical experience in tool design or mold making, and excellent people management abilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct the daily workflow and priorities for the Engineering Team.
- Distribute assignments and balance workload across direct reports.
- Resolve quality-related matters and concerns in assigned programs promptly.
- Provide guidance and information to designers and surfacers for accurate mold design.
- Ensure all tool designs comply with company best practices and customer specifications.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of departmental engineering standards and procedures.
- Mentor, train, and support team members, giving constructive feedback for growth.
- Oversee HR functions including scheduling, approving leave, development, and discipline for your team.
- Verify that departmental standards and company policies are met at all times.
- Monitor tool status and participate in review meetings for projects under your remit.
- Promote transparent communication and an open, inclusive team culture.
- Champion and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Approve necessary purchase requisitions related to engineering projects.
- Liaise with senior leaders about departmental updates, issues, or concerns as needed.
- Motivate your team to consistently meet time, quality, and delivery goals.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required by company needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A university degree, college diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in engineering, mold making, design, or surfacing.
- At least 10 years’ experience in the automotive sector preferred.
- Background in tool design, mold creation, or machining is advantageous.
- Experience supervising or leading technical teams.
- Proficiency with Catia V5 preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical competency.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently, perform under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
