About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join the ZIWI team based at Freeze Dried Foods in Hastings, New Zealand. As part of a global premium pet nutrition group, this position offers the unique blend of working within an agile specialist manufacturing site backed by robust global investment. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing the reliability, safety, and ongoing improvement of our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems within the production environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve sophisticated electrical, instrumentation, and automation challenges.
- Formulate and implement preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance plans.
- Collaborate with the Automation Engineer to support and enhance PLC, HMI, and SCADA control architectures.
- Contribute to capital projects by managing the electrical aspects of plant upgrades and new equipment integration.
- Identify and pursue initiatives to minimize downtime and boost manufacturing productivity.
- Provide expert guidance, mentoring, and technical support to maintenance personnel and contractors.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Quality, Health & Safety, and Supply Chain to achieve superior operational outcomes.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a tertiary degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Possesses experience in manufacturing, food processing, or FMCG sectors.
- Demonstrates deep knowledge of industrial electrical infrastructure including motor control, instrumentation, and power distribution.
- Experienced with automation platforms such as PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
- Understands and applies principles of preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Has a track record of leading or assisting in engineering projects and equipment commissioning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with technical teams and operational staff.
