Director, Procurement & Supply Chain

Role overview

Our client, a major distributor in the construction materials industry, is hiring a seasoned Director of Procurement & Supply Chain to own and modernize the full supply chain operation. This leadership role suits someone who excels in a high-velocity distribution setting and brings strong capability across procurement, inventory planning, logistics, supplier management, and broader supply chain change initiatives.

What you will lead

You will be responsible for guiding sourcing, procurement, inventory control, transportation, supplier partnerships, and supply chain improvement programs. In this role, you will partner with senior leaders and operational teams to make sure the supply chain consistently supports customer needs and business goals.

• Set and deliver long-range supply chain plans that match growth targets, customer expectations, and market conditions.
• Work with leaders in Sales, Finance, Operations, and other departments to keep supply chain priorities aligned with company strategy.
• Build and refine sourcing approaches, supplier structures, inventory policies, and distribution workflows.
• Direct strategic sourcing efforts and supplier relationship programs to protect supply continuity, support service quality, and maintain cost competitiveness.
• Handle negotiations for contracts, pricing, commercial terms, and service commitments with suppliers.
• Find opportunities to lower supply chain spend while raising supplier performance and operational efficiency.
• Create supplier risk controls and backup sourcing plans to improve business resilience.
• Set inventory rules and replenishment methods that support customer service goals and working capital discipline.
• Improve inventory levels using demand forecasts, project demand, and seasonal patterns.
• Guide transportation and distribution decisions to increase efficiency, reduce expense, and sustain service standards.
• Evaluate and roll out supply chain technologies such as ERP, warehouse management systems, automation solutions, and analytics tools.
• Design KPIs and dashboards that improve visibility and enable informed, data-led decisions.
• Develop, coach, and retain a strong supply chain team built on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Encourage a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and customer focus across the function.
• Maintain effective supply chain risk management frameworks.
• Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, company policies, and industry requirements.
