Position overview
The Director of Global Supply Chain will lead end-to-end supply chain activity in support of defense manufacturing and production programs involving munitions, weapon systems, and hazardous materials. The role covers inventory planning, production scheduling, supplier management, contract negotiation, risk reduction, compliance oversight, and issue resolution to keep critical parts and materials moving on time.
This position is based in Tampa, Florida and reports to the CEO.
Core responsibilities
The selected leader will shape procurement strategy, manage supplier relationships, and coordinate closely with operations so production is not disrupted by shortages or non-compliant materials and processes. The role also requires identifying and qualifying suppliers, monitoring performance, negotiating pricing and terms, and finding opportunities to reduce cost without sacrificing reliability.
In addition, the position requires active supply chain risk management, including the use of dual sourcing, safety stock buffers, and demand forecasting to reduce disruption. The director will work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, operations, and program management to align supply chain plans with business and program goals, while also defining KPIs and driving continuous improvement.
Transportation, packing, and marking compliance
This role must ensure that all domestic and international shipments by sea, land, and air meet applicable US DoD and MIL-STD packaging, marking, and transportation standards. It also includes oversight of HAZMAT and other shipments under Defense Transportation Regulations, CFR requirements, and ITAR, along with best practices for routing, documentation, and export/import compliance.
Regulatory and audit accountability
The director is expected to ensure compliance across suppliers, storage, material handling, and supply chain operations with DFARS, ITAR, EAR, FAR, BATF, and other applicable rules. The job includes partnering with legal and compliance teams on certifications and contractual obligations, maintaining audit-ready records, and representing supply chain functions in DCMA and DCAA audits and reviews. The role must also support readiness for unannounced federal inspections.
Leadership and strategy
Responsibilities include setting supply chain policies and best practices, leading and mentoring the team, improving digital tools and technology adoption, and delivering executive-level updates on performance, risks, and strategic opportunities.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline is required, with a master’s degree preferred. The role calls for 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or logistics, ideally with defense manufacturing exposure and preference for munitions industry experience. Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and EAR is essential, along with hands-on experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and risk mitigation. The candidate should also be comfortable using ERP/MRP systems, analytics, and supply chain optimization tools, and must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
