Job Purpose
The Deputy Manager in Operations focusing on Rail is responsible for overseeing real-time monitoring of train movements, ensuring adherence to schedules, coordinating with relevant dispatchers and stakeholders, and swiftly addressing operational challenges to ensure efficient, secure rail transportation logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor real-time train locations and statuses, delivering accurate updates promptly to involved stakeholders.
- Manage capacity by verifying and documenting train arrivals and departures, ensuring correct cargo data, and monitoring railcar movements within terminals.
- Identify, report, and assist in managing incidents or irregularities by helping to formulate contingency plans and communicating vital operational information to internal teams.
- Gather data on train operations including movement patterns, dwell times, and incidents to support performance reporting and identify improvement opportunities to optimize processes.
- Ensure adherence to safety norms and regulatory requirements pertinent to train monitoring, reporting any safety issues or violations to appropriate authorities.
- Adopt and keep pace with digital transformation trends and artificial intelligence advancements to bolster business efficiency and competitive positioning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational qualifications required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE/B.Tech), Master’s in Engineering (ME/M.Tech), or an MBA.
- A total professional experience of 5 to 8 years in relevant fields centered around train monitoring and control responsibilities.
- At least 2 years of work experience within the rail industry specifically dealing with real-time train operations and monitoring technologies.
