Job description

About the Role

The General Manager position at a North East Ohio automobile group entails full oversight of dealership operations. This includes managing inventory, sales procedures, and ensuring high customer satisfaction, all while driving overall dealership profitability. The role demands leadership in staffing, training, employee motivation, goal setting, marketing strategy implementation, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Manufacturer Representative to coordinate initiatives
  • Develop and execute strategies aimed at achieving incremental annual increases in net profit
  • Prepare monthly and yearly sales and service forecasts for the dealership
  • Engage in quarterly financial reviews and reconciliation meetings with dealership and executive teams
  • Recruit, educate, inspire, and hold accountable dealership staff
  • Conduct individual meetings with managers to set goals and assess performance against targets
  • Oversee daily operational controls and take corrective action as necessary
  • Manage all demonstrator vehicles and maintain accurate dealership records

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a General Sales Manager, Fixed Operations Manager, or General Manager in a Ford dealership is highly preferred
  • Proven track record in cultivating a positive workplace culture and successful team development, including strong employee relations and leadership across organizational levels
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting dealership operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with employees, manufacturers, vendors, and customers; serving as the dealership's representative at all times
  • Capability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume working environment
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage workload thoughtfully
  • Capacity to maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and in dynamic, high-intensity situations, coupled with strong stress management
  • Strict confidentiality in handling sensitive information
