Job description
Overview
We invite qualified candidates to apply for the role of Datacenter Technician, specializing exclusively in Data Center operations rather than end-user computing tasks. The position demands expertise in managing and maintaining core data center infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage installation, movement, addition, change, and decommissioning (IMACD) of servers, storage units, network equipment, including organizing cabling and maintaining proper labeling standards.
- Coordinate Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) activities and liaise with vendors to ensure smooth logistics of spare parts.
- Conduct periodic environmental assessments covering power supply, cooling systems, and space utilization, along with visual inspections and updates to the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system.
- Perform operational support tasks such as power cycling equipment, accessing consoles, swapping media, and escorting vendors within the data center premises.
- Provide onsite assistance during change windows and respond promptly to emergency situations.
- Handle physical connection and removal of cables as required.
- Execute physical audits including asset inventories and cage/rack reconciliations to maintain accurate records.
- Maintain and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), update runbooks, and manage topology and port mapping documentation for the data center.
- Document incidents, changes, and problems in alignment with the client’s IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
