Data Scientist (m/w/d)

Role Overview

Join DPD Deutschland as a Data Scientist working onsite in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. You will develop and implement mathematical optimization techniques, apply statistical and machine learning models for diverse questions, and manage operational forecasting models to improve them continuously. Your expertise will be essential for data analysis and software development using Python, contributing to company-wide projects and serving as a key contact for data-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and utilize mathematical optimization algorithms for business problems.
• Apply statistical analysis and machine learning approaches for various use cases.
• Operate and refine forecasting models used in daily operations.
• Perform data analyses and write programs primarily in Python.
• Contribute to and implement projects spanning the entire corporate group.
• Collaborate closely with departments as a consultant on data-focused projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A completed degree in STEM or Data Science fields.
• Strong proficiency in classical machine learning techniques using Python and solid knowledge of statistics.
• Experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Quantitative forecasting in Python with tools such as Scikit Time, Pycaret, Prophet, Chronos.
  • Linear and nonlinear optimization, with practical use and programming of optimization algorithms and metaheuristics.
  • Graph and network theory, numerical modeling, and analysis of logistics networks.
• Strong analytical skills to understand and address complex challenges effectively.
• Fluent written and spoken communication skills in both German and English.
• Experience in logistics is advantageous.
