Role Overview
Join LIC's Data Platform team, part of the Digital Engineering group, to help advance the organisation's data capabilities. Collaborating closely with data engineers and the Cloud Data Architect, you will play an essential role in modernising the data platform, enhancing data accessibility, and enabling better self-service data usage across the business. This is an exciting chance to contribute to evaluating and adopting modern data technologies, tools, and engineering practices aligned with LIC’s growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Improve Data Engineering processes, including governance, cataloguing, ELT, streaming, security, automation, and data sharing.
- Advocate for high-standard engineering and consistent delivery.
- Collaborate and share knowledge to support the company’s overall Data Practice.
- Partner with technology teams to increase automation and boost end-to-end data delivery efficiency.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of LIC's product and technology roadmaps to ensure alignment with enterprise goals.
- Ensure data engineering solutions underpin business objectives and product plans.
- Promote innovation, idea generation, and continuous improvements within the team and Technology function.
- Support a learning culture via regular evaluation and optimisation of engineering workflows.
- Keep abreast of emerging Data Engineering and Analytics trends and technologies.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Relevant tertiary education and a minimum of two years' experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with data governance and data cataloguing tools.
- Experience working with Snowflake or comparable large-scale data platforms.
- Good understanding of data architecture, data management principles, and technology standards.
- Strong skills in ETL/ELT processes, SQL, and data analytics.
- Experience with technologies such as AWS, Python, dbt, Debezium, or streaming systems is beneficial.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and technology delivery lifecycles.
- Awareness of industry trends and best practices in Data Engineering and Analytics.
