Data Center Network Cabling Infrastructure Specialist I

Role overview

AWS is seeking a highly driven specialist to join its Infrastructure Delivery team in Singapore. This role focuses on building and supporting structured cabling for data centers, including optical fiber and Ethernet infrastructure, along with audits of data center components. You will partner with internal teams and external vendors to deliver cabling for incoming server racks within tight timelines while keeping workmanship to a high standard.

The position requires strong attention to detail, solid planning ability, and a commitment to quality. Because AWS data centers handle customer data and company intellectual property, the role also demands disciplined adherence to strict standard operating procedures.

What you'll do

• Install cabling and carry out position and power audits for servers.
• Track and maintain the supply of cabling materials needed for installation work.
• Organize cables, label them, and record network port details in line with AWS cabling standards.
• Supervise and escort cabling vendors, ensuring AWS installation practices are followed.
• Handle tasks and requests through a web-based ticketing platform.
• Observe AWS safety and security procedures at all times.
• Create and roll out process improvements, including documentation for both new and existing internal procedures.
• Work with different stakeholders to resolve operational issues.
• Support Network Engineering and the Technical Project Manager in delivering network infrastructure projects and handing them over smoothly to operations.
• Review project scope and requirements, prepare project plans, and ensure work is delivered on schedule.

Basic qualifications

• Diploma or Higher NITEC in Information Systems or a similar field.
• At least 2 to 3 years of cabling experience.
• Basic troubleshooting ability for networking and physical connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.

Preferred qualifications

• At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a data center setting.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP and common networking terminology, along with familiarity with cabling types, optical media, and test equipment.
• Experience in a virtualized enterprise networking environment.
• Exposure to small and medium network projects with some complexity.
• Background working in highly secured environments.
